Three women faint while cleaning toilets at I-T office in Nungambakkam

Three women workers who were cleaning toilets at the Income Tax office in Nungambakkam in Chennai fainted after inhaling a toxic gas, on Saturday.

According to the police, the three women, hired on contract basis, — Shanthi, Rafia and Bhagyalakshmi — were exposed to the toxic fumes from a cleaning solution. Other workers spotted them lying unconscious in the washroom, and rushed them to the Government Royapettah Hospital.

The women are undergoing treatment at the hospital, the police said and added that their condition was stable. The Thousand Lights police registered a case and an inquiry is underway.
