Four killed, Thanjavur district judge injured in road accident near Melakaranthai

Four persons were killed and Thanjavur Principal District Judge K. Poorana Jeya Anand sustained injuries in a road accident near Melakaranthai in Thoothukudi district on Friday.

According to police, the judge, court staff Udhaya Suryan, 34, Vasu Ramanadhan, 34, and Sridhar Kumar, 36, advocate Dhananjeyan, 58, and the judge’s security personnel Naveen Kumar, 30, were returning to Thanjavur after visiting the Tiruchendur temple in a multi-purpose vehicle driven by Vasu Ramanadhan. Around 9 a.m., the vehicle hit a truck in front of them. Sridhar Kumar, Vasu Ramanadhan, Naveen Kumar, and Dhananjeyan died on the spot. The judge and Mr. Udhaya Suryan sustained severe injuries.

Upon receiving information, Masarpatti police reached the spot and recovered the bodies and sent them to Aruppukottai government hospital and Thoothukudi Government Medical College and Hospital for post mortem examination.

From Aruppukottai government hospital, Judge Anand and Mr Suryan were shifted to a private hospital in Madurai for further treatment.
