Six lorries and a car that were parked near an iron scrap shop here were gutted on Saturday.
Muthu (50), a resident of Paramathi Road in Vallipuram, is running an iron scrap shop in the locality. He bought old container truck, lorries, and a car and parked them in front of the shop. On Saturday morning, fire emanated from the shop and it spread rapidly to the whole shop.
On information, Fire and Rescue Service personnel rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire after a few hours. In the accident, six lorries and a car were gutted. Preliminary inquiries revealed that a short circuit might be the reason for the fire. The Namakkal police registered a case and are investigating.
