The Chennai Hotels Association has threatened to withdraw from food delivery apps. Over a thousand branded restaurants that are part of the association are likely to opt out of the apps.
Association president M. Ravi said customers as well as restaurants were badly hit by unnecessary charges.
K. Rajkumar, vice-president of the association, said, “As restaurants, which make the food, we have no control over the fees collected by the mobile applications.”
“Around 40%-45% of the total bill goes to these aggregators, and yet, they say they are running at a loss, and delivery partners say they don’t earn enough,” he said.
