65-year-old man found murdered amid land dispute with son

A 65-year-old shepherd was found dead beneath a slab of his under-construction home in Pulimamidi village of Kandukur mandal on Wednesday morning.

The deceased, identified as Pasupala Chinna Jangayya, was allegedly under pressure from his son, 34-year-old Pasupala Shekhar, to sell the ancestral land and fund construction of his house.

According to Kandukur CI Sitaram, Jangayya was living with his wife Padmamma under the slab of a new house being constructed on his land. He owned about 20 guntas land in the village. Meanwhile, Shekhar was frequently quarrelling with his parents over the land. Despite a local panchayat being held to resolve the issue, his behaviour remained unchanged.

On the evening of June 17, the family had dinner together before Padmamma left to sleep at her second daughter’s house nearby. Jangayya remained under the slab of the half-built home. When Padmamma returned early the next morning, she discovered her husband lying in a pool of blood with a severe head injury.

Based on Padmamma’s complaint suspecting her son of killing her husband, police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
